Jim and Mary celebrate 40 years of marriage

August 20, 2008 · Print This Article

Jim took some time off from campaigning over the weekend to celebrate his 40th anniversary with his wife, Mary.

The celebrated at a party thrown by their five children. It was held at the home of Kitch’s daughter and son-in-law, Warren and Rebecca Thornton of Crystal Springs.

Not even a torrential downfall could keep the more than 100 guests from coming to wish the happy couple their best. Unfortunately, Kitch’s sons spent most of their time outside in the rain parking cars. But that’s just a testament to the kind of kids Jim and Mary have raised.

If you want to see some photos from the event, check out this set over at Flickr.

Make sure you check out at least two photos, the one of the family and the one of the Jim and Mary.

I wish for two things Jim… that Lloyd Wade could be here to witness this wonderful undertaking and that I were not a registered voter in Florida. My best to you and your family and say Hi to your amazing mother….Pap

    Congratulations!

Doesn’t seem like 40 years ago that you 2 got married. I also remember that your sweet and talented Mom played the piano at our wedding on August 11 that same year. She was quite busy then and still is! What a blessing!

As Pap said, I, too, wish Lloyd Wade could have been there with you to celebrate, but I know he was with you in spirit. I miss him. He was the best, as is all of your sweet family.

I have throughly enjoyed browsing through your anniversary photos and seeing many faces I know. Was a nice surprise to be able to see Ruth Greer (Don’t know her married name now) who was a teacher at First Baptist Kindergarten years ago in Columbia when my sons were young. I may have also picked out her son, Sam, who I taught in the 4th grade about 25 years ago!!!!!!

Good luck to you, Jimmy, in your campaigning and election; and I wish you and your lovely family the very best.

    Sincerely,

    Connie
