But does he like green eggs and ham?

According to The Meridian Star, Jim Smith has a new little slogan:
“I’m progressive and aggressive and have the support of the court.”
Before you lose your breakfast, let’s dissect this one.
If by “progressive and aggressive” he means the court has gotten progressively worse as he and some of his colleagues have aggressively sought to substitute the decisions of juries with their own political philosophies, then I’d agree wholeheartedly.
As to having “the support of the court”, I certainly hope Smith is not speaking on behalf of the other Supreme Court justices. Forget the fact that three or four of the members would support Kitch if they could. The point is, they can’t. State law precludes judges from publicly supporting political candidates.
From the Mississippi Code of Judicial Conduct:
…a judge or a candidate for election to judicial office shall not: …(b) make speeches for a political organization or publicly endorse a candidate for public office…
Jim Smith, above all people, should know that.
But, hey, it’s still a cutesy saying.

Would you overturn the case? For your friends that fund your race?
